Poppy Knitters Help British Legion
10:49am 6th December 2013
If you bought a special knitted poppy for the British Legion's appeal this year - you've helped raise £1,840 for the cause.
A group of 50 volunteers from Weymouth and Portland aged between 15 - 85 spent hours painstakingly creating 2,000 poppies.
They were sold at 21 outlets across the Borough.
Almost all the poppies were sold in the first week of the appeal.
2014 will be 100th year Anniversary of WW1 - and the volunteers will be making special poppies to commemorate the occasion.
