Weymouth's fishing community are backing the Fishwives Choir to be Christmas Number 1.

The single, 'When The Boat Comes In/Eternal Father', has entered the Official Chart Show and is up against the likes of Lily Allen, Leona Lews and James Arthur for number 1 spot.

The Fishwives Choir is made up of 38 women from all over the UK and was put together by Jane Dolby, who lost her fisherman husband at sea in 2008.

The proceeds for the charity single will be going to the Fisherman's Mission who support families of fisherman who are injured or killed.

Andrew Alcock, Secretary of the Weymouth and Portland Licensed Fishermen's and Boatmen's Association, expresses his support for the choir:

"The organisation it is raising funds for, The Fishermen's Mission, I wish it every possible success. It really does a wonderful job helping fishermen in their bereavement and in the time when they most need it."
