(Updated 9:10am 12th December 2013)

Police have issued a warning about cold callers looking for scrap metal in Dorset.

It's after a man called at an address in Broadmayne around 9pm on Monday night asking about a water tank that had been left on the resident's driveway.

He was told it was still needed and left empty handed.

He's described as a white male, aged in his late 20's, 5'10" to 6" tall of medium build, clean shaven, with short brown hair, wearing a black shirt and jogging bottoms.  He was said to be driving a red car, possibly a Ford Focus.

Although no crime was committed Police say it's best to keep these kind of items out of sight.
