Dorset Police have issued a special warning to women out on Christmas parties this weekend.

They're being urged to keep their handbags and mobile phones safe.

There've been recent incidents in the county where thieves have specifically targeted party goers.

Detective Constable Mark Fursman said: "Please keep your valuables with you at all times.

"These are simple steps that can protect you from becoming a victim of crime. Think of the possible impact losing your mobile phone or the contents of your bag would have on you.

"Of course enjoy yourself this festive season, but I would strongly encourage you not to drink to excess and therefore become vulnerable to crimes such as this."
