Over £ 77,000 is being used to put cancer patients at the heart of support in Dorset County Hospital.
Macmillan Cancer Support and the hospital have paired up to assemble a patient experience team for those effected by the disease.
The group of three will look at key issues raised by people in the National cancer patient experience survey to enable people to be cared for better and to improve on their health when they leave.
Gill Faley, who's leading the Macmillian team, explains; "The method we're using is called experience based design.
"It put's patients and staff at the heart of service redesign, whereas traditional surveys can be too focused on meeting targets and ticking boxes, missing out on how the patients actually feel."
