Bravery Awards For 3 Heroes Of West Stafford Crash

Fire

8:36am 14th December 2013

Three people from Dorchester have received bravery awards from the Queen after rescuing two people from a car crash on the West Stafford Bypass in June.

Andrew Bilton and husband and wife Brian and Joanne Keane risk their own lives after one of the cars caught  fire.

Brian and Joanne Keane were travelling along the West Stafford Bypass when they came across a bad accident involving two cars.

Both drivers were badly injured - the couple managed to free one of them.

Andrew Bilton then arrived at the scene.

Smoke from one of the vehicles turned into a fire - which was spreading to the second car where the driver was still trapped.

Both men risked their lives and managed to get the back doors of the car open and the driver out safely.

All three have received the Queen's Commendations for Bravery.
