Doorstep Sellers Hit Dorchester And Charminster
12:03am 15th December 2013
Dorset Police reacted to a number of calls yesterday about doorstep sellers operating in Dorchester and Charminster.
Three men in their 20's from Kent were spot checked and were given advice about their behaviour.
It's not an offence to sell at the door but you do need a pedlars certificate.
Police say people hawking goods often take advantage of the elderly, claiming things like they've just got out of prison - to gain sympathy to get people to buy from them.
