From Carnival Queen to Boss in Weymouth
8:40am 17th December 2013
Another former Carnival Queen will take over running Weymouth Carnival next year.
Elysia Jade Munday has been elected as Chairman for 2014.
Last year's event cost £58,000 to put on which had to be raised by support from local businesses.
The committee say some of the funds from last year will be used to pay for costs for 2014 - which they estimate could exceed £60,000 pounds.
They say one of the ways they could keep costs down is by not having the highly popular Red Arrows which carry a fee of £12,000.
The event will again be held on the 3rd Wednesday in August, which will be the 20th.
Weymouth Carnival Committee 2014 are now seeking new members. If you would like to be part of the team email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
