A Protest Carol for Councillors in Dorchester

Living Wage Protest County Hall 1

10:52am 17th December 2013
(Updated 3:31pm 17th December 2013)

County Councillors will be serenaded on the steps of county hall in Dorchester tomorrow afternoon. (18th December)

Unison Members will be singing them Christmas Carols with a twist.

They've come up with some new words to support their campaign for the Living Wage.

Pamela Jefferies, Dorset County Branch Secretary said "For three years, local government workers suffered a pay freeze, followed by a miserly 1% rise.  Conditions have also been cut at local level.  Local government pay has dropped in real terms by 20% and is now worth 10% less than it was in 1997.  That's why we're campaigning for a better deal."

"Although councillors have agreed that they want to consider improving staff pay, we thought we would send them a seasonal message and ask them to show Good Will to all their staff at this festive time of year".
