Priorities Set For Bridport Area Police
12:03am 22nd December 2013
Calls and complaints from town residents have set Bridport & West Bay Safer Neighbourhood Team's priorities for next year (2014).
They've listed three issues as priorities: Cycling on pavements, tackling shed and garage break ins, and applying for mobile CCTV on South Street in Bridport.
The team have said that cycling on pavements is a big problem as it poses a danger to pedestrians and can cause injury to people legitimately using the footpath. So, they'll be tackling cyclists who continue to ride on pavements after a warning with a fixed penalty notice of £50.
Shed and garage break-ins will be tackled with more high-visibility patrols and by visiting the victims of the crimes to provide advice and hopefully increase awareness. Bridport & West Bay Safer Neighbourhood Team have said they will be holding sessions to poscode and mark property to deter potential crime, and will be working with Bridport Crime prevention panel to hold events to educate people at risk of crime.
And finally they'll be applying for mobile CCTV for South Street after crimes in the area this year. To do this they will be working with Raglan Housing and the Local Authority to enhance the security of residents living in the area, and hope it'll alllow them to deal with incidents more efficiently.
