A Weymouth College student has been named the best young stone mason in the UK.
Alistair Mason won a gold at the Worldskills UK Competition.
Fellow student Jordan Vincent was highly commended for his work.
Alistair now hopes to represent the UK at the World Skills event in Sao Paulo in 2015.
The College has been a world-leader in stonemasonry for some years now and Alistair is the latest in a long line of outstanding young stonemasons to have emerged from this programme.
College Vice-Principal Rob Jones said: "We are incredibly proud of Alistair's success and the efforts of the stonemasonry department, which has rightly earned a reputation as one of the very best in the world. To produce gold and silver medallists in the last two international competitions, and to have another potential medallist in Alistair is testimony to the outstanding work of the department. It's very satisfying to see Weymouth and Portland leading the way for stonemasonry in the UK."
