A Coastguard Watch Officer and Football Volunteers in Dorset have been recognised for their achievements in the New Year's Honours list.

Portland Watch Officer Malcolm Wright, Chief Exec of Dorset's FA Susan Ann Hough PLUS Chief Constable at Dorset Police Debbie Simpson have all been recognised.

Malcolm, who lives in Weymouth, receives an MBE for more than 40 years of service to Her Majesty's Coastguard;

"I am extremely proud and sincerely humbled to receive this award. I joined Her Majesty's Coastguard in 1973, serving as a member of the Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Team and more recently as a full-time officer at Portland MRCC.

"I hope my personal recognition is also considered as a reflection of the commitment and calibre of all my Coastguard colleagues with whom I've had the great privilege of working alongside during my service."

For the first time more women than men have been recognised in this year's Honours list.

Dorset's Lord Lieutenant Valerie Lane-Fox Pitt-Rivers is also recognised for her service to the county.
