Flood Warnings in Place for Dorset After 24 Hour Downpour
7:51am 2nd January 2014
Weather hit areas of Dorset are clearing up this morning after gale force winds and persistent rain battered the county on New Year’s Day.
A number of fields have flooded and a junction on the A35 West Stafford Bypass is partially closed due standing water.
There's also been some flooding on the football stadium roundabout into Dorchester.
A number of Flood Warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency for the Upper Frome river from Maiden Newton to Dorchester, which could burst its banks.
Heavy rain is expected overnight tonight (Thursday 2nd January) with some lighter showers in the morning.
