New Year - New Bins

7:54am 6th January 2014

It's a New Year and a New Bin Service for parts of Purbeck and West Dorset who're being given some rather empty presents.

During this month and the next most households will get a small kitchen caddy (7 litre) and a bigger (23 litre) LOCKABLE bin for food waste, a 140-litre wheelie bin for rubbish and a 240-litre wheelie bin for recycling.

Purbeck households who already have a 240-litre wheelie bin for rubbish will use this for their recycling.  All households will keep their green box to use for recycling glass.  Properties that cannot use wheelie bins will receive sacks for rubbish and two extra boxes for recycling.

Residents who paid for an optional garden waste bin before the 18th October will also receive this service when the scheme starts.

All will get an information pack about the scheme, dates and times, which starts on March the 3rd, through the post.

This is only the beginning as the 'recycle for Dorset' service is due to be everywhere in the county in 2015. It'll be introduced in Weymouth and Portland and parts of West Dorset including Sherborne and Maiden Newton in October 2014.  The countywide roll-out is due to be completed in 2015 in the rest of West Dorset including Bridport and Lyme Regis.
