Petition Forces Councillors to Look Again at Controversial West bay Junction
6:45pm 9th January 2014
Councillors are to revisit the layout of a controversial road junction at West Bay.
Full Council considered a petition calling for a pedestrian crossing near Haddon House at a meeting today (Thursday 9th January).
1700 people had signed the paperwork calling for the change.
Residents living nearby have called the crossing "dangerous".
Councillor Ros Kayes told Wessex FM the road junction was; "An accident waiting to happen" and said "we need a pedestrian crossing now."
The junction was altered as part of the West Bay enhancement scheme.
The issue has been referred back to the Council's Policy Scrutiny Committee for further consideration.
