Dorset Men Invents New Flood Defence Device

Nursery Flood 1

7:30am 12th January 2014

A Dorset man's got backing for a new invention that could help protect homes and businesses from flooding.

Andy Pedrick has come up with a portable flood barrier - that you could attach to doors or garages - which will stop up to 40cm of water getting in.

He's also in talks with insurance companies to give reduced premiums to people who have one.

And we nearly saw Andy on TV;

"I had someone who was very interested in it - someone from the flood industry as well.  They were in place to take me towards the Dragons Den, but luckily I found an investor locally who's backing me.  Its taken a while but we're almost there now with a final prototype."
