Abbotsbury Coast Road to Open Sooner than Expected

Road works that have closed a popular part of the coast road through a local village could be finished a month earlier than expected.
As we've reported, Wessex Water are currently replacing the main water pipe in Abbotsbury after numerous bursts and originally said they would need twelve weeks for the work (starting from the 6th of January).
A lot of local businesses have been worried they would suffer loss of trade, and residents were worried about moving around the village, despite a shuttlebus being provided by the company.
However, when we spoke to Alan Marler from Wessex Water he told us that they could now be finished in eight weeks after making some changes to their plans, "A change of tact and we thought we'd start right in the middle of the village at that junction with two teams and working simultaneously then away from that corner. We're optimistic we'll reduce it down from the twelve weeks down to the eight weeks, but as I say an awful lot relies on help and support from motorists in the area and residents."
Alan reiterated, "If people can avoid driving through Abbotsbury that'll help us as much as possible."
