A couple from Moreton spotted something highly unusual prowling across West Stafford Bypass last night.

Charlie Coward and her partner were driving back home around 7.30pm when what they saw a Big Black Cat.

And Charlie says this wasn't your normal domestic feline...

You can listen HERE to Charlie speaking to James O'Neill on Wessex FM breakfast this morning.

Wildlife Expert, Jonathon McGowan, has researched into the existence of big cats in Dorset. He told Wessex FM that the sighting was more than likely to be a big cat, "The area where she saw the animal has had multiple sightings and is actually one of my research areas where I constantly find evidence of large cats. There's got to be at least a dozen pumas and leopards, probably over twenty, in the County."

He continued to explain that most of the large cats in the area have escaped from private collectors or zoos, and are very clever at adapting to their surroundings.

Jonathon added that it's currently breeding time for a selection of big cats, so we may see more of them around this time.
