Bridport Post Office To Close Temporarily For Major Refurbishment
9:04am 31st January 2014
Bridport Post Office will be closing for over a week in February to allow for a major refurbishment.
The branch in West Street want to improve the customer experience.
Fitters will be working night and day from the 13th February until the 21st.
Currently wheelchair customers have to ring a bell on the outside main wall at the branch in West Street and staff come out to them when available, whatever the weather.
Owner/Operator Slyvia Ainley said: "In the post office we have put a list together of 7 other branches you can use. We will also offer bus timetables to help people with transport. We are so sorry to be inconveniencing all our customers but we are doing our best to make sure we get things up and running and open again as quickly as we can."
Dorset Community Action's Simon Thompson says the Post Office laid on a bus service to Yeovil when the Sherborne branch shut for improvements.
He's suggesting they offer a bus to Beaminster where facilities are similar to those offered at Bridport.
