Flood Hit Homes in Dorset to Benefit from Rotary Fund
11:14am 19th February 2014
Dorset's Rotary club has helped raise £13,000 for communities washed out in the floods.
The money will go toward providing essential things like clothing and food.
Our local Rotary clubs launched an appeal for aid last week.
Dorchester Rotarian Peter Nobel told us they have people helping homes on the Somerset Levels, and they have funding to assist people here in Dorset too;
"The money is affectively going to providing things that are immediately necessary, in one case, there were some houses that didn't have any coal to heat their house and they were cold. So we bought the coal and we delivered it. If people have an issue and it's urgent, let one of the clubs know."
The fund now has a Rotary Just Giving account for people to txt their donations and allows gift aid.
All people need to do is text 70070 and then in the message box type SLFR12 and then the amount to donate (say £10). The sender will receive an acknowledgement and an invitation to gift aid it.
