Portland Homes Without Power
11:24am 20th February 2014
Engineers are working on underground cables to restore power to 50 homes on Portland.
Electricity went down in 2 areas at around 8:30am this morning (Thursday 20th February).
Scottish Southern Energy has told Wessex FM engineers are working on the damaged cables and they'll do all they can to reconnect customers as quickly as possible.
"Engineers will have to dig through concrete to make the repairs so we can’t say how long it will take to get the power back on for people disconnected, but we'll work as quickly as possible to help people affected."
Portland isn't the only Dorset town to suffer power failures, over 4 thousand homes in Bridport were plunged into darkness last night when electricity suddenly cut out.
Western Power told us the outage mainly affected people along East Street toward West Bay and near Chideock.
Engineers found a fault with electricity cables.
All homes, but 3, were re-connected by 1am.
