Bridport Bus Service Given A Reprieve
7:55am 21st February 2014
Use it or lose it...that's the key message to bus passengers in Bridport travelling to Yeovil on the number 47 service.
First have stepped in to save two peak journey's during non-term time.
That will start from 6 April.
Damory had decided they were no longer financially viable to run, and their contract with the County Council ends on Saturday 5 April.
Ros Kayes is the County Councillor for Bridport, she said:
"This is great news and I'm especially pleased that a commercial provider has decided to run with this to see whether it's financially viable. I think the message really is now that people must use the service - it really is a case of 'use it or lose it' now. The more people we get using the 47 the more commercial operators will see it's worthwhile for them as well as being an essential service for those who use it. It's great to see First step up to the mark and take this on."
