Road Through Abbotsbury Back Open
7:41am 28th February 2014
The coast road through Abbotsbury is open again.
A long diversion taking motorists around the village has been in place since January (2014) while engineers replaced old underground water mains.
It's hoped they'll be fewer bursts affecting people's homes and businesses in the future.
The work by Wessex Water has been finished a month ahead of schedule.
Wessex Water's design engineer, Alan Marler, said: "Thanks to the hard work of staff and the continued patience from residents and businesses we have completed the work ahead of schedule.
"It is inevitable that replacing a water main in the road will cause disruption, but throughout the scheme we have worked closely with local people in the area to try and minimise this as much as possible.
"We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we worked in the village, including the parish council and a number of local businesses who have been very supportive."
