(Updated 9:32am 6th March 2014)
The Environment Agency and flood engineers will update Portlanders on the state of the islands flood defences today (Thursday 5th March).
An event's being held for residents living near Chesil Cove at the Little Ship from 4pm.
The Dorset Coast Forum hope it will give people a better understanding of the storm damage and how emergency repairs are being carried out.
Coastal Engineer with the Environment Agency Neil Watson told us it's a good opportunity to let people know what's happening after the island was battered in the storms;
"An awful lot has happened the last 2 months, we've obviously had 4 significant storms, lots of wave energy, lots of flood warningsissued and we wanted to explain what we're doing by way of repair works and answer any questions people might have in the community."
"There will be some boards and a few maps and things to prompt thinking and discusssion. We've got a number of experts from various organisations, not just ourselves but emergency planners, engineers, people from the Borough and County Council so hopefully we'll be able to answer a broad range of questions."
