Dorset County Council's website has been ranked highly for its ease of use.
The Society of IT Managers reviewed the Dorset For You page in its Better Connected 2014 Report.
It was awarded 4 stars for its broad range of personalised and local information.
The other district and borough councils retained an above average 3 stars, with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and North Dorset District Council narrowly missing out on 4 stars.
Better Connected 2014 assessed how easy it is to complete a variety of common tasks such as applying for a school place and reporting a missed bin collection using traditional computers and mobile devices.
The Socitm reviewer said of dorsetforyou.com:
"I like the way that when I click on pages, for example library or rubbish, it immediately gives me my local information, such as nearest library. I think the sites in Dorset do a great job of making a broad range of information more localised and personal.
"The mobile site readily gives me postcode specific information on bin collection dates, local libraries and household recycling sites. The mobile site is well presented and laid out.
Dorsetforyou.com Partnership chairman Paul Kent said:
"Providing the website in partnership for the residents of Dorset means there is a one-stop shop for council information done in the most cost-effective way possible.
"I am delighted that we have received this independent endorsement, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. This is a priority for all the partner councils as we look to provide more digital services in future."
