Broadwindsor To Consider Buying Back Its Village Shop
8:19am 13th March 2014
Villagers in Broadwindsor are throwing their hat in the ring, and are going to express their interest in buying their old community shop.
The decision was made at a public meeting this week.
Broadwindsor Community Store has been running successfully out of the old telephone exchange for the last year after the original shop in the square closed.
But that's now coming back on the market.
The shop's listed by West Dorset District Council as an asset of community value. That means community groups get extra time to raise money to buy it before the owner can sell to any other interested parties.
Villagers have decided to tell the council they're interested in putting forward a BID. Whether they do will come down to just how much the asking price is.
