Police in Dorset say 'so called' officers ringing members of the public asking them to withdraw cash and send it to London are imposters.

The scam's been detected after four instances were reported to police here.

They want anyone else who's been approached in this way to contact them.

DI Mark Samuel from Dorset police says they NEVER ask members of the public for their bank details or to withdraw cash.

If you receive an unexpected call from someone claiming to be from your bank, hang up and call your bank back on the regular number, and certainly not to handover any cash to people you don't know.

He fears people here are not the only victims of the scam and its a national problem.
