Chesil Oil Slick Turns Out To Be Algae

Chesil Beach

9:08am 26th March 2014

Coastguards say reports of an oil slick washed on Chesil beach were well meaning, but wrong.

They called in experts after reports that it extended along its length.

After consultation with the Environment Agency about the muddy-green slick and the foam, it was confirmed that this was the annual algae bloom appearing slightly earlier than usual due to the warmer weather.
