Blandford's Royal Signals to Join Final Tour of Afghanistan

Soldiers from a Dorset regiment are being deployed to Afghanistan for the final phase of UK operations in the war torn country.
The Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has announced elements of the 15th Signal Regiment based in Blandford, will be mobilised for the final phase of Op HERRICK.
The Royal Signals Corp are among the first into action, organising battlefield communications and IT systems. They're a vital part of any operation and have their own engineers, logistics experts and systems operators to run radio and area networks in the field.
A portion of Blandford's 15th Signal Regiment will be deployed this summer as part of the next roulement of UK Armed Forces.
A massive scale down of UK forces is currently underway as the military's combat operations draw to an end in Afghanistan The last British troops set to leave the country by the end of this year.
