Santander is closing its banking agency in Bridport, with some people losing their jobs.
The town's outlet - and 130 other agencies nationwide - offer small scale banking services but not directly owned by the Spanish banking group.
The Santander branch in Morrisons is staying open.
Santander has told Wessex FM the decision comes after a major strategic review of their third party networks and says the Bridport branch would need significant investment to be transformed into a full branch.
Steve Pateman - Head of UK Banking at Santander said, "Santander has come a long way from when it was a collection of three building societies. With a simplified and enhanced product range, we are offering our customers great value every day, and with enhancements in mobile banking, internet banking and the improvements we have made to our proprietary branches, we have a distribution capability that allows our customers to bank with us, in the way they want, when they want.
"Part of enabling customers to choose how they deal with us, is making sure that all of our retail branches offer full banking. Consolidating our operations allows us to concentrate further enhancements to the proprietary branches in the area."
Santander say they're going to concentrate operations on their main banking branches.
The town's agency has been given a 6 month notice and Santander is working with the owner to ensure a smooth exit from the agreement.
It's understood a number of people are losing their jobs.
