Plans to remove free parking around the harbour in Weymouth could still go ahead.
A meeting held by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to discuss replacing the hourly spaces at Custom House Quay with an alfresco dining area was called off back in January, due to family illness.
Councillor Christine James, who deals with planning and traffic has told Wessex FM its an option that’s still on the agenda:
“Basically it's to do with better traffic management, trying to make the town a better environment, stop people trawling round looking for spaces. There's a whole process that has to go through first, so I wouldn't like to say too much at this stage, but Chris Graves, the parking manager and I, have already said that we're willing to sit down with businesses and residents around that area."
Cllr Christine continued:
"It would be nice if something along those lines could happen, but we're not definitely saying it will happen. I just hope the public will accept we are trying to do something about parking."
We’d like to know what you think.
