Radical Changes Considered For Adult Social Care In Bridport

Elderly Care

9:25am 9th April 2014

Plans which will radically change the way adult social care is delivered in Bridport are being considered today.

The County Council's Cabinet will look at the findings of a 3 month public consultation.

Local people backed the idea of a community hub, but are also adamant that any new residential home should remain under council control.

There are fears that a private sector facility would be too expensive for local people to access.

A new care home would provide secure dementia provision and nursing care.  The council is currently exploring options to form a local authority to form a local trading company that would ensure the care provision would remain under council control.

The council will consider today a recommendation to explore the preferred options for adult social care in more detail.
