More Phone Scams In Dorset Are Catching People Out
9:17am 12th April 2014
Another telephone scam is doing the rounds in Dorset.
The Police say this one involves people who've registered for the telephone preference service - which stops you getting unwanted telephone calls.
People who've registered on the website are then phoned and asked to pay a fee of £39. This is a scam, as the service is FREE.
Earlier this week two Weymouth pensioners were conned out of nearly £40,000 by fraudsters claiming to be from the MET.
If you've been contacted by a person stating to be from the Telephone Preference Service and have paid money for this FREE service the Police are strongly advising you to report the incident to ACTION FRAUD on 0300 123 2040 as well as contacting your bank as soon as possible.
