COMMUNITY NEWS: Sitting Pretty Thanks To Community Funding

Bench

11:03am 15th April 2014

Residents at Fullers, Broadwindsor, are sitting pretty on a new bench thanks to funding from local housing provider Magna Housing Association.

Residents applied for funding from Magna’s community initiative fund (CIF) as the old bench had become very decrepit. The CIF allocates £120,000 a year to things that will improve the areas where residents live, and granted funding for this application.

Ken Bodycombe, community investment officer, said: “Anyone can ask for money from the community initiative fund if they think it will help Magna residents.  A group of residents meets once a month and agrees which projects we’ll support.  It doesn’t matter who put the project forward, what matters is it makes a difference to the places people live.

“The view from the bench is amazing and now residents have a nice seat to enjoy it from.”
