WATCH: Dorset Cancer Survivor Gives Young People Hope

Rian Harvey Jack Morgan

8:07am 16th April 2014

A teenager from Broadmayne who was diagnosed with Leukaemia has made a documentary to give hope to other young sufferers.

15-year-old Rian Harvey was told he had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia last September.  He's now finished his treatment and has been given the all clear.

Rian's friend Jack Morgan made the film:

" I thought the story was quite unique, what he went through and I wanted to find a way of telling the story and raising awareness so I thought why not make a film."

Rian is now back playing football.  He wants to show other people you can get well.

"I think it's positive to show that after being out after treatment for three months you can grow your hair back.  It shows kids you can turn it from a negative thing into a positive thing."

Rian was helped by local charity The Steve Charles Help A Friend Fund, who raised £10,000 to help with his care.

He's thanking everyone who contributed for their support.
