Anger Over Changes To Bus Services

There's more anger at plans to cut bus services in Dorset next month.
Last week we reported villagers in Martinstown have started a petition about changes to their service into Dorchester.
Instead of running hourly it will run just twice a day.
First Dorset are also making changes to routes in Weymouth.
Paul Harrington is a bus user who lives in Littlemoor Road. He says he's going to have to get a bus into Weymouth to then get to Dorchester.
Paul got in contact with Wessex FM and told us this:
"When you hear people say I'll have to buy a car, surely that defeats of the object of putting buses on. We're told to use more buses and now they're cutting services. So I don't understand how that's going to help. They're just putting more cars on the road as a lot of these people haven't got the option of using other forms of transport."
Commenting on the summer timetables, Simon Newport, General Manager, First Dorset said:
"The change to the X31 service has been made in order to maintain its viability following the withdrawal of financial support from Dorset County Council three years ago. We did make great efforts to increase the number of people travelling and improve the fares, but unfortunately, the section between Weymouth and Dorchester has not be used sufficiently to enable us to continue running this part of the service."
"Customers can however use Service 10 between Weymouth and Dorchester, which runs every quarter of an hour during the day and hourly in the evening, with buses every half an hour on Sundays."
