The Bridport Jurassic Coast Run Is Back

Bridport Jurassic Coast Run

8:53am 22nd April 2014

Get on your marks, because The Bridport Jurassic Coast run is back this summer.

130 people took part in the event last year.

Organisers have also added another race  - so you can choose between a 10k, 5k and one mile course.

This year's event starts at Bridport Leisure Centre and will be held on Sunday 13th July.

You can read more about the race details here:

Those who participated last year may hope to get around Thorncombe Beacon this time - but it's
still there: The tough climb up the second highest hill on the southern Coast of England is - apart
from the stunning views of the Jurassic Coast - the main attraction of the 10k race (minimum age
is 16 years). The 10k is aimed at established runners and those wishing to undertake the next step up. Last year's male winner was Bridport Runners' own Ben Renshaw who conquered the Beacon and the complete course in 49:21 minutes; fastest woman on the track was Hertha van Schack in 1 hour and 33 seconds.

The 5k run (minimum age 12 years) which also includes the beautiful Jurassic Coast at West Bay
should be especially interesting for novice runners and those who want to get back into running
again. The 5k was won last year by Harrison Yarnold (26:16 minutes) as fastest man and Gemma Snow (36:20 minutes) as fastest woman.

New this year will be a one mile run on a flat course around the fields at the Bridport Leisure
Centre. This race is for runners of the age of 12 years and under, and visitors should be prepared to see a fast and furious race over this distance, as well.

Finally, for the 8 years and under Brit Valley Rotary Club will organise a family treasure hunt again which was very popular last year. Parents and grandparents are cordially invited, too!

Entry forms for the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run are available at the reception of the Bridport Leisure Centre; runners can also sign in online through the event website of Runners World.
