Local Businesses Given Fire Safety Advice

Dorchester Fire Station Demo

11:16am 22nd April 2014

Local businesses are getting some free practical advice on fire safety this afternoon in Dorchester.

Dorset Fire and Rescue are taking employers through what their legal requirements are.

They're running the course at the new council offices.

Emma Turner, Business and Partnership Engagement Officer at Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "In England and Wales, if you're an employer, landlord or occupier of a business, you're responsible for fire safety under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.  This legislation ensures people in or around commercial premises are safe from fire."

"These brand new sessions will be taking a look at what the legal responsibilities under the Fire safety Order are, as well as lots of practical advice about fire precautions and the fire risk assessment process."
