Community Art Project to Cover Up Weymouth Eyesore
7:31am 23rd April 2014
Weymouth's old fire station has been reduced to rubble but there are now plans to give the site a much needed facelift.
People in the town have put together a community arts project to give the old station some colour and vibrancy. They want to put up giant billboards around the fencing that surrounds the old station.
It's hoped the project will go some way to improve what a number of people consider an eyesore in Weymouth and now project leaders are on the hunt for volunteers to help.
They're needed to help with the billboards.
Local artist Peter Sheridan, who did the popular artwork under the railway bridge on Damers Road in Dorchester, is looking for some helpers to get involved.
If you're interested call the Volunteer Centre Dorset on 01305 269 214 or to find out about the event email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first session is taking place this Saturday (26th April). They'll be other sessions on Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th April and Thursday 1st May and they all run from 10am - 2pm.
All ages and abilities welcome but under 14's must be accompanied by an adult.
