Blandford's only children's nursery that was threatened with closure will stay open, after campaigning parents forced the Council to make a U-turn.
Dorset County Council announced the service was to close last year because they could no longer afford to keep it running after losing a government grant.
At a meeting on Wednesday night (23rd April), Children’s Services told Mum's and Dad's the nursery including it's under 2's provision was to remain open, there were fears the service for toddlers may not be saved.
A parent has told us the authority said they have enough funding to keep it open until July 2015, and that they were glad everything has come together;
"Really good news that they have listened to us and have continued to communicate with us positively. We are thrilled that the nursery will stay open and look forward to supporting them to provide a service that meets all our needs."
Blandford's Nursery will run on a new model from September (2014) and be subject to a review in December.
It is understood staff have to re-apply for their jobs.
An official announcement from Dorset County Council is expected today (Friday 25th April).
