Weymouth Military Event Receives Funding Boost!

Armed Forces Day celebrations

7:21am 28th April 2014

The Ministry of Defense have given Weymouth £10,000 for their Armed Forces Celebrations.

Named the borough's biggest event by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, the week in June will include a seafront veteran’s parade, a beach assault and a flypast by a historic world war 2 Spitfire plane.

The celebrations are expected to welcome thousands of veterans, residents and visitors to the programme of military and veteran’s commemorations and celebrations.

This year will recognise the 100th anniversary of the start of the first World War and the 70th anniversary of D-Day, and it all takes place from the 21st to the 17th of June (2014).
