Man Rescued From Grain Silo

Dorset Fire And Rescue Engine

3:27pm 28th April 2014

A man's been rescued after falling into a grain silo on a farm near Shapwick, Blandford.

Fire fighters from Blandford, Wimborne, Poole and Weymouth were joined by specialist crews from Trowbridge and Eastleigh.

Quick thinking farm workers had already attached a strop underneath the man's arm to stop him sinking any further into the grain.

He was pulled out and check over by paramedics.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service deployed gas monitoring equipment to ensure the safety of the casualty and rescuers.  Confined spaces can result in a build up of potentially poisonous gasses.
