Robbers Target Lone Female Walker on Rodwell Trail

Dorset Police Car At Night

10:50am 29th April 2014

An appeal's out after a woman was allegedly forced to the ground and robbed along the Rodwell Trail in Weymouth.

The incident happened just over 2 weeks ago on a Monday between 12 and 1pm (14th April).

The victim, a 26 year old woman sustained minor injuries, including grazes and bruises, and had cash taken from her.

A man and a woman in their early 20's from Weymouth were arrested over the incident and have been bailed.

Detective Constable Gerald Marchant, of Weymouth CID, said it looks like an opportunist attack;

"The victim, who had gone to the trail to meet a friend, was allegedly approached by two people and attacked.

"I believe that the attack, in which they pulled her to the ground and forcibly removed items from her, was unprovoked.

"I would like to speak with any witnesses or anyone who has information about this incident."
