Weymouth Fire Station To Welcome Royal Visitors

Weymouth Fire Station 1

7:32am 2nd May 2014

On the day that FBU members of the fire service are striking, the Earl and Countess of Wessex will be visiting Weymouth's new Community Fire Station.

Sophie and Edward will see how the Safewise Charity are working to educate young people in Dorset on fire safety.

Their Royal Highnesses will also be given a demonstration by Dorset Fire and Rescue Cadets as well as a show and tell session with technical rescue crews from Weymouth.

Chief Fire Officer, Darran Gunter said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex to Weymouth Community Safety Centre and Fire Station. This visit gives recognition for the great work being undertaken at the centre to educate and inform children, young people and those most at risk in Dorset's communities. We are looking forward to discussing this with The Earl and Countess and how we plan to develop SafeWise and Weymouth Community Safety Centre in the future."
