County Spend Extra £ 50K To Clean Up Grass Verges
4:08pm 2nd May 2014
Dorset County Council are providing an extra £50,000 to deal with overgrown verges in the county.
They have put the state of some of the roadside greenery down to the previous mild and wet summers we have faced, causing some of the vegetation to become a little overgrown.
Plans are already being developed to work towards better managing the verges in the county's streets and rural roads. The 'Living Verges' Partnership will look at working with local councils and environmental groups to listen to comunities and develop new ways of looking after the nature on our roadsides.
One idea currently being discussed is working more sustainably, such as re-using grass cuttings as animal feed or creating a renewable energy source.
