Firefighters On Strike Today

12:02am 4th May 2014

Today is the final day of strike action for Dorset's Firefighters.

Members of Dorset's Fire Brigade's Union are joining members around the country to contest the govenment's proposals to change their pensions.

Their industrial action today will be between 1000 and 1500 hours.

Dorset's Chief Fire Officer, Darran Gunter has urged residents to stay safe, have a fire escape plan, and be vigilant, in particular in the good weather around cooking on barbeques.

He's reassured residents their calls will be answered if they dial 999, and firefighters will attend any incidents in South or West Dorset.
