Dorchester Town Council Celebrates 40 Years
8:49am 8th May 2014
Dorchester Town Council's 40 year history is being celebrated tonight at the Town Hall.
Councillors from the last four decades have been invited to attend.
They'll be able to look back through some of the minutes of the meetings which were held from when Dorchester turned from a Borough into a town council in 1973.
Councillor Molly Rennie has helped organise tonight's celebrations. We asked her about some of the issues they've debated over the years.
"Parking. And of course the inevitable Charles Street. That's gone on for such a long time, 20 years at least. Play areas and vandalism, these are all still things we're talking about now."
Molly says the minute books are an important part of the County Town's heritage.
"They also contain lovely good memories of fun times and exciting celebrations. Royal visits. It's all there. It's not only a history of the council but a history of the town."
