A delegation from Weymouth's in London to try and keep Condor in the port.
MP Richard Drax is leading the group who are trying to convince transport minister Stephen Hammond to make a cash fund of up to £10 million available to help them pay for work needed for Condor's proposed new bigger ferry to be able to berth here.
Last week Tourism Brief holder Councillor Ian Bruce expressed concerns that Poole were in a better financial position to fund any alterations to take the vessel, which could have a devastating effect on Weymouth economy if the route is lost.
Last year Weymouth and Portland Council spent £ 3.4 million on repairs to the harbour wall. Condor sailed from Poole in the 17 months while the work was carried out.
