£4,000 has been raised for a new suite at Dorset County Hospital for seriously ill children and their families.
A cheque has been handed over by the Dorchester Beerex Committee. The proceeds are from the beer festival held at the Corn Exchange back in February.
Nurse Ali Ryder is Chair of the Gully's Place Trust Fund;
"The idea of Gully's Place is the family can stay as a unit. They can have some privacy but they can have the hospital staff on call supporting them as much as they want. So the facility is set up as their own little home inside the hospital."
Poole Hospital already has a similar facility.
Fundraising Manager at Poole Hospital Charity, Pamela Bell said: "We are delighted to have received such a splendid donation from the Dorchester Beerex. This was one of the first events that has been held in Dorchester for Gully's Place and we are extremely appreciative of their support. Our main aim in the next couple of years is to support the development of a Gully's Place Suite at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, similar to the one we have at Poole. This wonderful donation will help us to achieve this."
Beerex Chairman , Ellis Ford said: " That it was an honor to be involved in the early stages of such a wonderful facility for sick children and their families in the county town."
