Goat Savaged By Dog On Portland

Dog walkers on Portland are being urged to keep their pets on leads after a dog savaged and killed a goat.

The attack happened on Sunday morning when the animal managed to get through barbed wire and electric fencing at Fancy's Farm.

The goat which was killed was one of the farm's first animals, and Sue Illsley from Fancy's Farm says dog walkers shouldn't take the chance.

She told Wessex FM:

"Luckily my husband was on the site when it happened.  He caught the dog and he was well within his rights to shoot it, but luckily for the dog he didn't have a firearm with him."

"I've got four dogs myself.  You just don't know what they are going to do.  This dog was a family pet and it went on to rip a goat apart.  Just keep your dogs on leads."
